Purpose Statement
The Illinois Military Assistance Act [330 ILCS 45] established the right for a Veterans' Assistance Commission, known as VAC's, to be formed in each Illinois County. These VAC's assist honorably discharged veterans and widows and dependents of veterans with the services provided by the individual VAC. These services vary by county but may include VA Claim assistance, transportation assistance, county veteran's assistance, and emergency assistance.

The Illinois Association of County Veterans Assistance Commissions was formed as an overseer to assure that the veterans services promised in the Illinois Military Assistance Act are provided and that the intent of this law is not abused by any individual county commission. The association is equally committed to providing the VAC's of Illinois with a strong and effective association that works to improve the services and benefits that the veterans deserve.

All of the associations meetings are structured to provide a forum for internal business items, a platform for an exchange of ideas, and conference session featuring speakers that furnish information on a wide range of veteran related topics. The IACVAC hosts an annual training conference in order to provide the latest information and maintain a corps of highly trained service officers operating at the county level.

Our association is dedicated to the promotion of positive legislation at the state and federal levels of government. And, we vigorously oppose any legislation that would erode the benefits that our male and female veterans so richly deserve.
